When/where do you offer your workshops / skills programmes / learnerships?
You can visit our website www.edutel.co.za or contact Jonah on +25(67)1855164 for dates
and booking forms.
On the back page of this brochure are some workshops planned for early 2006.
Workshops/skills programmes/learnerships can be conducted anywhere in Uganda.
At present, our venue is Africana Hotel for public workshops.
What will I receive when I register for a workshop?
All course material and other assessment and facilitation documentation
What makes the programmes Edutel offers different from other programmes?
All programmes offered by Edutel are competency based. It is not only about the knowledge
but very much about the application thereof.
We work on a system of:
30% Instructional learning (knowledge)
70% Workplace learning (practical)
How will the practical component work?
Learners will receive a workplace assessment guide that instructs their supervisor/coach or
mentor as to what it is they have to be exposed to in the workplace in order to manage the
practical elements of the programme.
Learners will collect evidence, which must be authenticated by their managers, proving that
they can apply what they have learnt in the workplace. This will include testimonials, written
evidence, letters, photo’s etc.
All evidence collected will be filed by the learner in a Portfolio of Evidence and submitted to
Edutel for assessment.
Where and to whom will I submit my Portfolio of Evidence and when?
Learners will be prepared for assessment by the facilitator during the workshop.
Full address details will be given regarding time and procedures to submit their portfolios.
Who will assess me?
A qualified registered assessor.
How many assessments will I have?
One knowledge test and one Portfolio of Evidence per unit standard us the norm.
If more than one unit standard is integrated during a workshop, there will still be one
knowledge test and one combined Portfolio of Evidence.
In the case of longer programmes such as learnerships, there will be several knowledge tests
and portfolios depending on how the work and respective unit standards integrate.
How does distance learning work?
Register and we will mail you the material with an orientation guide explaining everything step
by step.
May I choose between distance or contact sessions?
If you cannot attend a workshop, you may choose the distance learning model.
Why pay more?
You may pay a bit more for your training but you get first class training offered by a South
African provider who is internationally benchmarked.
How long before the workshop must I book?
At least 30 days before the commencement of the workshop.
When do I pay?
We usually require a 50% deposit upon registration and the rest on the first day of the
workshop.
A government order will also ensure your booking.
Bank details available on Edutel website or contact Jonah on +25(67)1855164.
What happens if I cancel?
A cancellation fee of 50% of the fee will be charged, although your attendance can be
postponed to a later workshop.
Who will facilitate the workshops?
Leaders in the specific field with the relevant experience are used. South African and/or
international facilitators will often conduct workshops.
Who will issue the certificate?
Certificates will be issued by Edutel which is fully accredited by the relevant South African
ETQA under which the programme/qualification falls as well as by SAQA.
Can we arrange a workshop at our premises?
Yes – if you provide the refreshments and venue we can even arrange a group discount.
What is the minimum number of learners required for a workshop to be conducted?
15 minimum
30 maximum per class
How will I know that a workshop will be conducted as advertised?
You will be informed within one week of the closing date for registration and after receipt of
your 50% deposit or government order.
If it happens that there are not enough learners registered for the workshop, you will have one
of two options:
A – Do the programme via distance learning
B – Wait for the next workshop
