WHOLESALE AND RETAIL QUALIFICATIONS BY DISTANCE LEARNING

Edutel Pty(Ltd) intends rolling out the following Wholesale and Retail Qualifications through distance learning:

  • National Certificate in Retail and Wholesale Processes NQF2 (available from 1 June 2003)
  • National Certificate in Retail and Wholesale Sales and Service Technology NQF4 (available from 1 April 2003)
  • National Certificate in Retail and Wholesale Operations Management NQF5 (available from 30 April 2003)

REGISTRATIONS:
Candidates will be able to register for any of the abovementioned programmes as from 1 April 2003.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:
Learners who are not able to pay for the course fee in full with registration, will be able to make monthly payment arrangements.

WHAT AND WHEN WILL I RECEIVE IT?
After we have processed your application and have received your proof of payment, your course material and instruction for your portfolio of evidence for the different unit standards will be dispatched to you by courier. Please provide us with a delivery address.

CONTACT SESSIONS:
The distance learning will be complemented by means of contact sessions which will be held countrywide at major centres.

ASSESSMENT:
Assessment based on the knowledge component will be conducted via a knowledge test.
The workplace assessment will be assessed once the learner has compiled a Portfolio of Evidence containing the necessary evidence.

EXAMINATION RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. All examinations must be considered and a mass mark of 80% must be obtained in order to be declared competent on the instructional learning component (knowledge test).
  2. Exceptions to this written test are made only in extraordinary circumstances such as serious medical emergency and only with the submission of a doctor's certificate no more than five days after the examination in order to be eligible for a re-examination. Should a doctor's certificate not be available you will forfeit a re-examination and a R150 assessment levy fee will be payable.
  3. Should you be found not yet competent on the knowledge test a re-assessment fee of R150 will be payable.
  4. Attached please find a time-table and a list of available centres where the knowledge test will be conducted. Any applicant desiring to change from venue to another must notify Edutel at least 30 days prior to the examination date. Should there be no venue close to you, you may arrange another venue and invigilator at your own cost. In such cases you will be required to submit a written request to the Edutel offices and include a CV of the invigilator of your choice as also a telephone number of the venue that you have arranged. The only persons who may act, as an invigilator is a pastor of your church, a chief at a police station, a qualified assessor or a principal of a school. Should there be 10 people or more in a specific area, a written request must be submitted to the Edutel offices. The board will evaluate the circumstances and should this be approved, a new centre will be opened in that area.
  5. Please take note of the closing dates indicated on the time-table. No late entry forms will be accepted!
  6. The knowledge test entry form may be posted, faxed or e-mailed to the address indicated on your entry form.
  7. Time limits will be strictly enforced. No one will be permitted to enter the examination room after testing has begun. Starting the examination early or taking more time than allowed will result in disqualification.
  8. After expiration of time allocated for any part of the examination, no candidate will be permitted to go back to that part, either for review or for completion.
  9. Talking will not be allowed in the examination room during the testing. Similarly, any disruptive behaviour is good cause for disqualification.
  10. No food or beverage will be permitted in the examination room at any time.
  11. Smoking is prohibited in the examination room.
  12. Examinees will be required to show proof of identity during check-in of examination.
  13. For the Assessor and SDF courses the exam will be open book and students should bring whatever printed materials they need to the exam site but will not be allowed the use of their laptops.
  14. For all the other courses, no course material, notes or any other form of information that could assist you in the examination will be allowed to be on your desk while writing the examination/s.
  15. Where it has been established that a candidate has engaged in cheating in an examination, the Board may deem that the candidate has failed all or part of the examinations. A disciplinary hearing may also be called at the discretion of the Board.

COURSE STRUCTURE :

The course structure is the same as the Wholesale and Retail Learnerships.
Candidates need to choose only one elective.

ASSIGNMENTS :
Learners will have to submit assignments in every unit standard that forms part of the qualification. These assignments will be sent back with model answers.

QUALIFICATION :
The final qualification that learners will obtain will be issued by the Wholesale and Retail SETA and SAQA.
Edutel will also provide learners with a certificate.

Submission of application form

  • Print out the relevant application form from this website.
  • Complete the application form and mail to P O Box 23009, Helderkruin, 1733.
  • Don't forget the debit order section of the application form (should you wish to make use of this facility).

NB:

  • If the fee is to be paid by your company, please use the Company Name as a reference on the deposit slip.
  • If you are paying for yourself as an individual, please use your initials and surname as a reference on the deposit slip.

  • Certified copies of all previous qualifications, including school leaving certificate
  • Copy of ID document
