The Advanced Diploma in Education in School Leadership & Management is a qualification designed for current and aspiring school leaders. Offered via distance learning, the programme can be completed over one or two years, providing flexibility for working educators.

This qualification is ideal for teachers who are already in management positions, form part of a School Management Team (SMT), or who aspire to move into leadership and management roles within schools and educational institutions.

The programme consists of four carefully structured modules that develop advanced leadership and management competencies within the schooling context. Students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and professional values required to lead strategically, manage people and resources effectively, and drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

Through this qualification, students develop the confidence and capability to lead schools with vision, integrity, and impact, contributing meaningfully to the delivery of quality education across the school system.

All study material is provided in electronic (e-book) format, with the option of including printed hard-copy materials should you prefer.

Minimum admission requirements:

• A BEd, or a general first degree or diploma, plus an Advanced Diploma in Teaching, or a former PGCE or Higher Diploma in Education  Postgraduate (HDE PG) or
• A former Advanced Certificate in Education, a former college Higher Diploma in Education or Further Diploma in Education or 
• An Advanced Certificate in Teaching.

• Edutel Higher Education (Pty) Ltd is accredited with CHE/HEQC.
• Edutel Higher Education (Pty) Ltd is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training until 31 December 2027 as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997. Registration certificate No. 2017/HE07/001.
• The qualification is approved as a post-professional qualification by the Department of Higher Education and Training and is considered for REQV improvement. The qualification will make you more marketable for senior positions.
• Students will earn 50 CPTD points on successful completion of the Advanced Diploma in Education in School Leadership and Management (AdvDip (SLM)).
• The qualification is accredited by the CHE/HEQC and registered on the NQF with SAQA ID 101437.
• The material for this qualification was internationally evaluated by Prof. Lars Björk (PhD) University of Kentucky, College of Education, Department of Leadership Studies, 111 Dickey Hall, Lexington, KY 40506-0017.
