The Bachelor of Education (BEd) Honours is offered over two years via distance learning, providing flexibility for working education professionals. This qualification is ideal for teachers who hold a minimum NQF Level 7 teaching qualification and who are currently in, or aspiring towards, school leadership and management roles, including members of School Management Teams (SMTs).
The programme consists of 10 structured modules, designed to deepen professional knowledge and strengthen leadership capacity within educational settings. All study material is provided in electronic (e-book) format, with the option to purchase printed hard-copy materials if preferred.
The BEd Honours equips students with the advanced knowledge, skills, and professional values required for effective leadership and management in education. Graduates will be empowered to lead strategically, manage educational institutions effectively, and contribute meaningfully to the improvement of teaching, learning, and the overall quality of education across the school system.
Minimum admission requirements:
- The minimum entry requirement is an approved bachelor’s degree PLUS a recognised professional teaching qualification for example a bachelor’s degree plus PGCE / HDE/ University Diploma in Education (UED) OR
- A four-year professional teaching degree (such as a BEd) OR
- A four-year teaching professional teaching qualification as well as an Advanced Diploma in Education (for example in Leadership and Management (Level 7))
