Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching
Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching, NQF level 7, SAQA ID 118270
The Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching is a professional teaching degree offered via distance learning over four years (full-time) or five years (part-time), making it ideal for students who need flexibility while pursuing a meaningful career in education.
This qualification is designed for individuals who are passionate about working with young children and who aspire to become professionally qualified Foundation Phase teachers. The programme prepares students to teach learners from Grades R to 3, laying strong educational foundations during the most critical years of a child’s development.
Through a well-structured blend of theoretical knowledge, practical teaching skills, and workplace-based learning, students develop a deep understanding of how young children learn and grow. The degree equips future teachers with the specialised pedagogical skills, subject knowledge, and professional values required to support early literacy, numeracy, and holistic learner development within the South African schooling context.
Graduates of this programme will be fully qualified as professional educators, equipped to teach confidently and competently in Foundation Phase classrooms and to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners.
